A beautiful sounding guitar with a warm, rich voice & marvelous dynamics. The round shoulders hearken back to the early days of Gibson acoustic design, and the combination of spruce & walnut have proven to be the perfect pairing of tone woods. Fitted with an LR Baggs Element pickup, this gorgeous dreadnought is stage ready at a moment's notice. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape overall with some mild play wear - various surface scratches & some minor finish chipping along the edge of the pickguard.
Neck: Maple neck with cream side-dots. 12" radius walnut fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show a bit of wear, but have plenty of life in them. Mini Grover tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Round shoulder dreadnought in Antique Natural finish. Solid spruce top with 4-ply binding. Walnut bridge with mother of pearl dot inlays. Cream end pins with compensated saddle. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette with abalone inlay. Solid walnut sides & back with single-ply binding. The back shows off some nice variegation in the walnut & is perfectly bookmatched. Guitar weighs 4 lbs 6.3 oz.
Electronics: LR Baggs Element pickup powered by a single 9-volt battery mounted to the neck block. Master volume & tone controls mounted just under the soundhole.
Case: Gibson hardshell case included.
Eastman definitely saved some of their best wood to produce this model which at the very top of their traditional series. It has great feeling 3 piece neck. The overall appearance and attention to detail is really fantastic! The photos don't do it justice. Beautiful full & rich dreadnought tone! I don't know if all the E40s they make have this kind of sound, but this guitar is really impressive. I play with banjo and mandolin players and it always seems that the guitar is the first instrument to get buried in an un-amplified acoustic setting. This guitar has "headroom" to spare! It sounds sweet and is responsive to a light touch, but the harder I play, it just keeps getting louder. This E40 is so lively, it sounds like it has been played for years, and yet I just received it. I shudder to think what this guitar will do once it has been broken in.
