Description
What makes this guitar special:In 1997 I ordered this guitar directly over the phone from Bob Taylor, who told me he designed it for himself. It's a delightful dreadnought with wonderful clarity & a bright, snappy voice. In great shape -- with a rich tone built over the 24+ years that its wood has seasoned over time. Played occasionally - every few years - by me, the original owner -- who never got
good enough to play often. It's time to give it up.
Cosmetic Condition:
Great shape overall, but has a few nicks, cracks, & surface scratches. Laminate cracking over a few inches on one side (see last photo) & surface crack on top made me bring it into the best music store in town where their head guitar specialist said it's cosmetic and that nothing needs fixing.
Neck:
Slender profile mahogany neck with ivoroid binding & black side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Bound headstock with Gold Grover Rotomatic tuners in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body:
Solid Sitka Spruce top. Ebony bridge & end pins with abalone dot inlays. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Solid mahogany back & sides with single-ply binding. Guitar weighs 4 lbs 5.4 oz.
Case:
Original hardshell case included.
Here we are again after many years. Finally ready to sell the last of my pristine acoustic collection. These last 7 guitars are the ones I have used for home/studio personal playing the past 15 years or so. All were chosen for their specific tone, playability, and beautiful condition over the years as the opportunity presented itself from a manufacturer visit or a local music shop on the road. These were my personal favorites and covered all the sounds, volume, and tone I ever needed, and were never used on the road and stayed safely in the studio. They are all in Excellent condition ranging from VG/EX to EX/NOS.
This auction is for a mid 2005 production 16-year old Martin OM-35 in excellent to NOS condition. This was my guitar of choice the last 10 years or so for personal playing and songwriting in the studio due to tone and playability. What will surprise you for a 2005 – almost new condition better than wall hanger in store, plastic still on pick guard, slightest hint of wear on pick guard plastic and frets, and a smell from the sound hole of a new and hearty rosewood body due to perfect hydration and always in case storage.
The Martin OM is itself based on the OOO or ‘Triple O’ body design, but adds a longer scale length neck – 25.4 inches instead of the Triple O’s 24.9 inches. This increases the string tension, making the top work a bit harder to deliver a bit more volume and clarity. As a ’35’ model, the OM-35 features a Sitka Spruce top with scalloped Spruce braces, paired with 35 model split select Indian Rosewood for the back, rosewood sides, headplate, the bridge and bound fingerboard.
Does not have factory pick up.
